TL-UF Series
Ultrasonic Flow Meter
Non-invasive clamp-on and portable ultrasonic flow measurement
Key Features
- Non-invasive clamp-on installation — no pipe cutting
- Portable handheld version for survey and audit
- Bidirectional flow and energy measurement
- Wide pipe diameter range: DN15 ~ DN6000
- Suitable for clean, single-phase liquids
Product Overview
The TL-UF Series ultrasonic flow meters use transit-time technology to measure flow rate without cutting pipes or interrupting process flow. Available in fixed clamp-on, portable handheld, and insertion configurations, they are suitable for clean liquids in pipes from DN15 to DN6000. The non-invasive design makes them ideal for retrofitting existing pipelines.
Working Principle
Transit-time ultrasonic flowmeters transmit ultrasonic pulses alternately upstream and downstream through the liquid. The difference in travel time between the upstream and downstream pulses is proportional to the average flow velocity. Since the measurement is non-invasive (clamp-on) or minimally invasive (insertion), there is no pressure drop and no contact with the process fluid, making it ideal for clean liquids and applications where process isolation is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the ultrasonic flow meter require cutting the pipe for installation?+
No. The TL-UF Series clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter attaches to the outside of the pipe without any pipe cutting, welding, or process shutdown. This makes it ideal for retrofitting existing pipelines.
What pipe materials and sizes are compatible?+
The clamp-on transducers work on pipes from DN15 to DN6000 made of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, PVC, HDPE, copper, and most other materials. Heavily corroded or lined pipes may affect accuracy.
What types of liquids can be measured?+
The ultrasonic flow meter measures clean, single-phase liquids including water, treated wastewater, oils, and most chemicals. It is not suitable for liquids with high gas content or heavy slurries.
Is a portable version available for flow surveys?+
Yes. The TL-UF Series includes a portable handheld version with battery power and data logging, suitable for flow surveys, commissioning, and verification of installed meters.
What is the difference between the clamp-on and insertion ultrasonic flow meter?+
Clamp-on transducers mount on the outside of the pipe with no contact with the fluid. Insertion transducers are installed through a hot-tap fitting into the pipe. Insertion types offer higher accuracy for larger pipe diameters.
