Product Overview

The TL-SS Series measures suspended solids (SS) and mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) using near-infrared optical scattering. Designed for continuous immersion in activated sludge basins, return sludge lines, and effluent channels.

Working Principle

Optical sensors use light-based measurement principles that eliminate the need for consumable reagents or electrolytes. Fluorescence optical DO sensors excite a luminophore coating with blue LED light; the returned red fluorescence signal is inversely proportional to dissolved oxygen concentration. Turbidity sensors transmit near-infrared light through the sample and measure the scattered light at 90°; the scatter intensity is proportional to suspended solids concentration. These principles provide stable, drift-free measurements with minimal maintenance requirements.
